EVENT RECAP: DCTweetup July 20, 2010

The fabulous ladies of Sisarina put on another wonderful event last night at Urbana, DCTweetup! If you’ve ever been to a Sisarina-sponsored event before, you know that if this team is behind it, it’s gonna be a good time. Scratch that – it’s gonna be a GREAT time!

As usual, last night I saw Melanie, the mastermind behind the whole operation and Liz,her dynamo of an intern, but I was super-thrilled to finally meet Teresa, who I’ve interacted with on Twitter for ages. Well, for ages in Twitter time.

As if that wouldn’t make it a great enough event, the crowd made it even greater. The attendees were a cross-section of people who I regularly see at events, people who were attending their first tweetup and a few people who aren’t even on Twitter – yet. A few more of these events and I don’t see how they can continue to resist!

Among all of the connecting and re-connecting, the highlight of the evening for me was when I was told that my real-life persona is the same as it is on Twitter. (As I type this I’m listening to ‘Hate Me Now’ and just heard Nas say “I’m as real as they come.” Talk about perfect timing!) As I always say, I don’t know how to be anyone other than myself and wouldn’t want to be. Online or offline, what you see is what you get!

Last night’s tweetup was another great Sisarina event – good times and good people. If you missed it, there’s always the next one.
